Sentiero degli Dei (Path of the Gods) — Furore Access
The famous Sentiero degli Dei high-altitude footpath passes directly above the municipality of Furore, offering a less-crowded eastern entry point compared to the popular Bomerano trailhead. Starting from the upper village of Furore you gain sweeping views of the entire Amalfi Coast within the first 20 minutes of walking.
The Trail from Furore
The Furore upper village (Comune di Furore, elevation approx 300 m) sits directly below the main Sentiero degli Dei ridge. A signed local path — marked with red-and-white CAI blazes — climbs steeply from the village square through terraced vineyards and lemon groves to join the main trail in roughly 40 minutes.
Once on the ridge, the path traverses dramatic limestone karst terrain with unobstructed views south over the Tyrrhenian Sea and north into the Lattari Mountains. The full traverse to Nocelle above Positano is about 7.5 km one-way and takes 3–4 hours at a moderate pace.
Wildlife and Flora
In spring (April–June) the path edges are thick with wild orchids, rosemary, fennel and the vivid yellow flowers of the Amalfi spurge. Peregrine falcons nest in the limestone cliffs overhead and are regularly spotted riding thermals above the fjord.
The trail passes through the Parco Regionale dei Monti Lattari, a protected regional park. Carry 2 litres of water per person — there are no springs or bars on the high section of the path.
