Agriturismo Serafino
Perched on the terraced slopes above Furore, Agriturismo Serafino is a working farm that produces its own Furore DOC wine — one of Italy's smallest and most obscure appellations — alongside olive oil and house-cured salumi. Lunch here, with a carafe of chilled Fiorduva white and a plate of pasta al limone, is as close to the soul of the Amalfi Coast as you can get without a local grandmother.
What to Order
Start with the antipasto della casa: bruschetta with house olive oil, smoked provola cheese, and paper-thin slices of locally cured lard seasoned with wild fennel — simple ingredients made extraordinary by altitude and care.
For a primo, the scialatielli ai frutti di mare is the regional pasta shape at its best here: thick, chewy ribbons tangled with clams, mussels and cherry tomatoes from the farm's own garden. Finish with a delizia al limone, the coast's signature dessert of sponge soaked in limoncello cream.
The Furore DOC Wine
The Furore DOC is one of Campania's rarest appellations, covering just a few hectares of vertiginous terraced vineyards. The white Fiorduva, made from Fenile, Ginestra and Ripoli grapes, is floral, mineral and almost impossible to find outside the immediate area — this is one of the few places to drink it where it was grown.
The farm also produces a robust Furore Rosso from Piedirosso and Aglianico grapes; ask the owner Serafino for a brief tour of the cantina if you arrive before the lunch rush.
Practical Details
Reservations are essential in summer; the terrace holds only about 20 covers and fills quickly with a loyal mix of Italian regulars and in-the-know visitors.
The agriturismo is signposted off the SP1 above Furore village; a taxi from Amalfi costs roughly €15-20. Lunch is typically served from noon to 3 pm; dinner is available on request for larger groups.
