Mirador del Río Onin
A short walk from the village centre, the informal viewpoint above the Onin river bend frames Lesaka's characteristic slate-roofed caseríos against a backdrop of forested hills — the kind of scene that explains why this corner of Navarre is called the 'green Pyrenees'. Sunrise and late-afternoon light are both spectacular here.
Getting there on foot
Follow Calle Nagusia north out of the old quarter, cross the medieval bridge over the Onin and take the footpath that climbs left along the riverbank for about 600 m until the tree line opens onto a grassy bluff.
The walk takes no more than 15 minutes from the church plaza and the path is well-worn, though unsigned — ask at the tourist office on Calle Nagusia for the precise turning if in doubt.
What you see
From the bluff you look back over the compact historic core: the tower of San Esteban, the stone houses with their wooden balconies painted oxblood red, and the Onin curving below in a horseshoe bend.
On clear days the granite ridges of Peñas de Aia fill the eastern skyline, giving the composition a proper mountain backdrop that rewards a wide-angle lens or a panoramic phone shot.
