The church was built in stages between the 15th and 17th centuries, blending late-Gothic structure with Renaissance decorative details — a combination typical of prosperous Navarrese parishes of the era.
Look closely at the main retablo: its polychrome figures of saints retain vivid original pigments, a rarity in a region where many altarpieces were damaged during the Carlist Wars.
The tower and its bells
The square bell tower doubles as a landmark visible from the hiking trails that descend from the Peñas de Aia massif, making it a useful orientation point as well as a photogenic subject.
