Plage de Juan-les-Pins
Juan-les-Pins owes its legendary status in part to this sweeping sandy beach — rare on a coastline dominated by pebbles — where F. Scott Fitzgerald once watched the Jazz Age shimmer over the Mediterranean. The fine pale sand, shallow turquoise water and backdrop of umbrella pines make it one of the most photogenic stretches on the entire Côte d'Azur.
The Beach Scene
The central public section in front of the casino is free and family-friendly, while a string of private beach clubs — Papagayo and Pam Pam are local favourites — rent out sunbeds and serve chilled rosé from around €20 a set.
Arrive before 10 am in July and August to claim a good spot on the public sand; by noon the beach is packed shoulder to shoulder and the parasol sellers are working overtime.
Water Sports & Evening Swims
The calm, gently shelving bay is ideal for paddleboarding and sea-kayaking; several rental outfits operate near the Jetée Marcel Brun pier and charge roughly €15 per hour for a stand-up board.
As the crowds thin around 6 pm the light turns golden and the water temperature stays above 24 °C well into September — this is the hour locals slip back in for a long, unhurried swim.
