Cap d'Antibes Coastal Path (Sentier du Littoral)
The Sentier du Littoral hugs the rocky southern tip of Cap d'Antibes for roughly five kilometres, threading between crashing surf, secret coves and the garden walls of some of the most expensive real estate in Europe — a walk that feels like a film set.
The walk itself
Start at La Garoupe beach on the eastern side of the cape, where F. Scott Fitzgerald and Gerald Murphy famously spent their summers in the 1920s, and follow the signed coastal path clockwise around the headland. The route passes the Villa Eilenroc — a Belle Époque mansion whose gardens open to the public on Wednesday mornings — before reaching the lighthouse and the rugged Pointe de l'Ilette.
The path is mostly flat but involves some scrambling over rocks near the southern tip. Wear proper shoes, bring water and a hat, and allow two to three hours for the full loop without rushing.
Swimming stops & wildlife
Several unofficial swimming spots appear along the route — look for iron ladders bolted into the limestone leading down to clear, deep water. The snorkelling around the rocky outcrops is excellent: posidonia seagrass meadows shelter sea bream, octopus and the occasional moray eel.
The cap's pine and eucalyptus forest is a migratory bird hotspot in spring and autumn. The Jardin Thuret, a botanical research garden run by INRAE near the northern end of the cap, is free to visit and contains over 3,000 plant species.
