Cap d'Antibes Coastal Path (Sentier du Littoral)
Skirting the rocky southern tip of the Cap d'Antibes peninsula, the Sentier du Littoral is a 4.8-kilometre coastal footpath that feels a world away from the glitzy hotels just inland. Crashing waves, hidden rock pools, wild rosemary and views across to the Lérins Islands make this one of the most rewarding short walks on the entire Riviera.
The Walk Itself
The path runs from Plage de la Garoupe in the east to Plage de la Salis near Juan-les-Pins in the west, hugging the shoreline the entire way. It is waymarked but occasionally scrambles over limestone rocks — wear proper shoes, not flip-flops.
The southern tip at La Garoupe plateau offers the clearest views: on a bright morning you can see the snow-capped Alps behind Nice to the east and the red Esterel massif to the west, with the Lérins Islands floating directly ahead in the sea.
Wildlife & Swimming Stops
The scrubby garrigue along the path buzzes with cicadas and the air smells of sea salt and wild herbs. Look for yellow-and-black fire salamanders after rain and great cormorants drying their wings on the rocks.
Several unofficial ladders and steps cut down to flat limestone shelves perfect for swimming — locals call these calanquettes. The water here is noticeably clearer than the main beaches because there is no sand to disturb.
