Mercado Municipal de Fuenlabrada
The Mercado Municipal on Plaza de la Constitución is where locals have been buying their jamón, fresh cheese and seasonal vegetables for decades. Arrive on a Saturday morning and you will find the stalls at their loudest, most colourful best.
What the Stalls Offer
Inside you will find around 40 stalls selling everything from Iberian charcuterie and Manchego cheese wheels to live shellfish, fresh bread and homemade pastries that disappear by noon.
The fish section is particularly well stocked for an inland city, supplied daily from Mercamadrid, Spain's central wholesale market — the second largest fish market in the world.
Eating and Drinking Around the Market
Several tapas bars ring the market building and open from 09:00, serving vermouth, cañas and pintxos to shoppers taking a break between stalls.
Try the bocadillo de calamares at the bar directly opposite the main entrance — it rivals anything you would find in central Madrid and costs considerably less.
