Cerro de los Ángeles Viewpoint (from Fuenlabrada side)
The gentle ridge that runs along Fuenlabrada's northeastern boundary offers one of the cleanest panoramic views toward Cerro de los Ángeles — the geographical centre of the Iberian Peninsula — with the Sierra de Guadarrama forming a serrated white horizon behind it on clear winter days. It costs nothing and requires only a short walk.
The View and the Walk
From the high ground near the Parque de la Solidaridad, on calm mornings you can see the monument atop Cerro de los Ángeles rising above Getafe, with the Madrid skyline's glass towers glinting to the north and the flat meseta stretching south toward Toledo. The perspective is utterly different from anything you get inside the capital itself.
A well-maintained path loops around the park's upper perimeter and takes about 40 minutes at a gentle pace. Bring binoculars in winter — the open scrubland between Fuenlabrada and Getafe attracts stone curlews and the occasional short-toed eagle riding thermals above the ridge.
Best Times to Visit
The golden hour before sunset in autumn and winter turns the entire plain amber and makes the distant sierra look close enough to touch. Photographers should position themselves on the northeastern edge of the park about 45 minutes before sunset for the best light angle.
Early spring mornings after overnight rain deliver exceptional visibility, with snow still capping the Guadarrama peaks and the air washed completely clear. Weekdays are virtually empty up here — you may have the whole ridge to yourself.
