Every Wednesday morning Lenno's compact lakeside piazza transforms into a lively street market where local traders from across the Tremezzina district sell seasonal produce, handmade cheeses, lake-caught fish, and no-nonsense household goods alongside a handful of souvenir stalls. It is the most authentic snapshot of everyday Como life you will find in this stretch of the western shore.
What to Buy
Look for wheels of Formai de Mut from the Bergamo valleys, fresh-pressed olive oil from the few remaining Como olive groves, and bunches of lake herbs — the vendors are proud of provenance and happy to talk if you show genuine interest.
A fishmonger usually sets up near the water selling agone (a small lake fish traditionally dried and pressed under stone slabs) and fresh lavarello fillets — both are Como staples that rarely appear on tourist menus.
The Atmosphere
The market wraps around the ferry dock and spills along the lakeside promenade, so shopping comes with an incidental panorama of the Grigne peaks and passing hydrofoils — it is genuinely one of the most pleasant market settings in Lombardy.
