Ermita de San Roque Viewpoint
Most visitors to Lastres photograph the village from the harbour or the road, but the locals know the best angle is from the tiny whitewashed chapel of San Roque, which sits on a promontory just above the rooftops and frames the entire village against the open sea in a single, perfect composition.
Finding the Chapel
The ermita is reached via a short footpath that branches off the main village road near the upper car park — it is signed but easy to miss, and the five-minute walk through gorse and coastal scrub feels delightfully off the tourist trail even in high season.
The chapel itself is a simple 17th-century structure, usually locked, but the stone terrace in front of it is always open and provides an unobstructed south-facing view over the harbour and the sea beyond.
The Best Light and What to Bring
Photographers should aim for the golden hour before sunset when the low light catches the terracotta roofs and the harbour water turns copper — it is the shot that ends up as the screensaver on every phone that visits Asturias.
There is no café or facility here; bring a bottle of local sidra, sit on the low wall and watch the fishing fleet return below you — it is one of the most quietly perfect experiences the village offers.
