Walk to the southern edge of the old town where the Cours Honoré Cresp terrace drops away and suddenly the entire Côte d'Azur unfolds below you — Cannes, the Lérins Islands, and on a clear winter morning even the snow-capped Maritime Alps floating above the sea. It costs nothing and takes five minutes to reach from the cathedral.
The view itself
The platform sits at roughly 330 m elevation, high enough to see the Bay of Cannes glittering 20 km to the south and low enough to feel connected to the patchwork of mimosa terraces and rose fields below. In May, when the centifolia rose harvest is underway, those fields glow pink in the morning light.
Photographers should come at golden hour — about 45 minutes before sunset — when the coastal haze burns off and the Esterel massif turns a deep terracotta red behind Cannes. A 24–70 mm lens captures the full sweep comfortably.
Getting there and making the most of it
From the Cathédrale Notre-Dame-du-Puy, walk south along Rue Jean Ossola for three minutes until the street opens onto the terrace railing. There are stone benches where locals eat their lunch sandwiches and watch paragliders drift off the ridge above Cabris.
Combine the viewpoint with a walk through the old town's medieval lanes — Rue Gazan and Rue de l'Oratoire are lined with 17th-century tanneries converted into ateliers and tiny perfume boutiques — before doubling back for the sunset.
