Sóller–Palma Vintage Tram & Wooden Train
One of Mallorca's most beloved journeys, the antique orange tram rattles from Sóller's central Plaça de la Constitució down to the Port de Sóller in about 15 minutes, while the century-old wooden train climbs through dramatic Serra de Tramuntana tunnels and orange groves all the way to Palma. Together they form a living museum of Edwardian engineering that most car-borne visitors completely miss.
The Train Through the Mountains
The Ferrocarril de Sóller has been threading its narrow-gauge track through 13 tunnels and across stone viaducts since 1912, and the polished mahogany carriages with brass fittings look almost exactly as they did on opening day. Sit on the right-hand side heading toward Palma to catch the best views of terraced olive groves tumbling down toward the coast.
The journey takes roughly 55 minutes and deposits you at Palma's Plaça d'Espanya — but the real reward is the ride itself, so buy a return ticket and savour every curve of the track.
The Port Tram: Short Ride, Big Charm
From Sóller's main square the vintage tram clangs its bell and weaves through narrow streets and past lemon trees before arriving at the turquoise harbour of Port de Sóller. It is only 5 km but feels like a scene from a 1950s travel poster.
The tram runs several times daily and is perfectly timed to connect with the train arrivals, making a full Palma–Sóller–Port loop easy to do in a single day.
