Morzine Saturday Market
Every Saturday morning the centre of Morzine transforms into a fragrant open-air market where local farmers, fromageries and charcutiers set up stalls along the Rue du Bourg and around the church square. It's the single best place to taste the Haute-Savoie larder in one compact, convivial hour.
What to Buy
Look for wheels of Abondance AOP and Tomme de Savoie from the dairy farmers of the Dranse valley — the vendors will slice you a wedge to taste before you commit. The charcuterie stalls pile high with diots (Savoyard pork sausages), smoked ham and dried mountain beef that make a perfect trailside lunch.
Seasonal produce shifts dramatically through the year: in July you'll find wild blueberries and fraises des bois; by October the stalls groan with ceps, chanterelles and enormous potimarron squash in burnt-orange pyramids.
Local Producers Worth Seeking
The honey stall run by a beekeeper from nearby Les Gets produces a rare sapin (silver fir) honey with a dark, resinous depth utterly unlike supermarket varieties. Arrive early — it sells out by 10 am most Saturdays.
A small bread baker from the Vallée d'Aulps brings sourdough loaves studded with walnuts and dried apricots; they're still warm when the market opens and the queue forms fast.
Market Etiquette & Timing
The market runs from around 8 am to 12:30 pm. The first hour is the domain of locals doing their weekly shop — this is when stock is freshest and vendors are most willing to chat and offer tastes.
Park in the Palais des Sports car park a five-minute walk away; the village centre becomes pedestrianised during market hours and parking directly on Rue du Bourg is not permitted.
