Aiguillette des Posettes Summit

Rising directly above Le Tour village to 2,201 m, the Aiguillette des Posettes is the valley's most rewarding half-day hike — a rocky crest that rewards every step with an expanding panorama of the Mont Blanc massif, the Aiguilles Rouges and the Swiss Valais beyond.

The Hike from Le Tour

The trail begins at the top of the Charamillon gondola (1,850 m), slashing the ascent to a manageable 45-minute walk along a well-marked ridge path. In July and August the slopes are carpeted in alpine wildflowers — gentians, arnica and mountain avens — making the approach as photogenic as the summit itself.

The final scramble to the rocky crest is straightforward for fit walkers with good footwear. At the top, the full sweep of the Aiguilles du Tour glacier and the snowy pyramid of Mont Blanc (4,808 m) fills the southern horizon in a way that genuinely stops conversation.

Sunset & Alpenglow

Stay until early evening in summer and you may catch alpenglow — the deep rose-gold flush that sweeps across Mont Blanc's snowfields as the sun dips behind the Aiguilles Rouges. Photographers regularly rate this as one of the finest alpenglow vantage points in the entire Chamonix valley.

The descent back to the Charamillon lift takes around 30 minutes, and the last gondola down to Le Tour runs at 17:30 in summer, so check the timetable before lingering too long at the top.
