Musée Historique de Haguenau
Housed in a handsome early-20th-century building on the banks of the Moder, Haguenau's Musée Historique holds one of the richest local-history collections in northern Alsace, spanning Bronze Age burial finds to medieval imperial regalia.
A Treasury of Alsatian History
The ground floor dazzles with Celtic and Gallo-Roman artefacts unearthed from the Haguenau Forest tumuli — bronze torques, fibulae and ceramic vessels that push the town's story back more than 2,500 years.
Upstairs, the Holy Roman Empire takes centre stage: Haguenau was a favourite residence of the Hohenstaufen emperors, and the museum preserves seals, charters and sculptural fragments from their 12th-century imperial palace.
Craftsmanship and Daily Life
Folk-art showcases display painted Alsatian furniture, faience pottery and guild silverware, painting a vivid picture of bourgeois life along the Rhine plain from the 17th century onward.
