Restaurante La Finca (El Poblet de Elche)

Set in a restored farmhouse surrounded by palm trees and citrus orchards on the outskirts of Elche, La Finca is one of the most celebrated restaurants in the Valencian Community — a one-Michelin-star institution where chef Susi Díaz has been reimagining the rice and vegetable traditions of the Alicante hinterland for over three decades. Eating here is not just a meal; it is the most eloquent argum

What to Order

The tasting menu (around €90–€110 per person, excluding wine) is the definitive way to experience Díaz's cooking, which moves fluidly between hyperlocal ingredients — artichokes from the Vega Baja, local date vinegar, wild herbs from the sierra — and technically precise modern preparations. Rice dishes remain the emotional core of the menu; the arroz meloso with local vegetables and the arroz a banda (rice cooked in fish stock) are benchmarks of the genre.

The à la carte menu offers more flexibility and includes outstanding individual dishes such as the salt-crusted sea bass and a warm almond soup with local saffron that has become something of a signature. The bread, baked in-house, arrives warm with local olive oil and is worth the visit alone.

The Setting & Booking Ahead

The farmhouse setting — whitewashed walls, terracotta floors, a vine-draped terrace overlooking the palms — is relaxed rather than stiff, which makes the Michelin star feel like a bonus rather than a burden. Lunch on a sunny Saturday on the terrace, with a bottle of Alicante Monastrell wine, ranks among the great simple pleasures of the Valencian Community.

Reservations are essential and should be made at least two to three weeks in advance, particularly for weekend lunches. The restaurant is located about 4 kilometres from the city centre on the road towards Santa Pola; a taxi or rideshare from central Elche takes around 10 minutes.
