El Pitu Viewpoint (Mirador del Pitu)
Perched on the hill above town, the Mirador del Pitu delivers the postcard shot of Cudillero that every visitor chases — a cascade of candy-coloured houses tumbling down a narrow ravine straight into the harbour. Come at golden hour and you will understand why this fishing village is considered the most photogenic in all of Asturias.
The View Itself
From the stone balustrade you can see the entire amphitheatre of the village in a single glance — terracotta rooftops, cobalt blue boats bobbing in the port, and the open Cantabrian Sea stretching to the horizon beyond the breakwater.
The viewpoint sits beside the white Ermita de la Atalaya chapel, which adds a romantic foreground element to any photograph. Early morning mist rising off the sea gives the scene an almost cinematic quality that afternoon clarity cannot replicate.
Getting There
The easiest approach is to follow the signed walking path that begins near the town hall on Calle El Pitu — it is a gentle 10-minute climb on a paved lane flanked by hydrangeas and ferns.
Drivers can park near the cemetery on the upper road and walk the final 200 metres on foot. The path is well maintained year-round and suitable for most fitness levels, though sturdy shoes are advisable after rain.
