Pointe du Cabellou
Just 3 km south of the town centre, the Pointe du Cabellou headland curves into the Atlantic with wild coastal paths, wind-bent pines and uninterrupted views across the Baie de Concarneau that most visitors never find. It is the local's secret escape.
The Coastal Path
A well-marked sentier côtier (coastal footpath) loops the entire headland in about 90 minutes, passing rocky coves, private villas hidden behind tamarisk hedges, and sudden clearings where the sea fills your entire field of vision.
The western tip of the point gives a direct sightline back to the Ville Close floating on the water — bring a long lens and you'll get one of the finest photographs of the walled town possible.
In July the gorse and heather bloom in competing shades of yellow and purple, making the clifftop path feel almost theatrical.
Plage du Cabellou
Tucked on the sheltered eastern side of the headland, the small sandy Plage du Cabellou is calm enough for children and rarely as packed as the main town beaches.
The water here is noticeably cleaner than in the harbour area, and the view across to the Îles de Glénan — the turquoise-water archipelago 14 km offshore — is best appreciated on a clear morning from this beach.
A handful of beach-side houses and a small snack van in summer are the only concessions to tourism; the rest is pure Brittany coast.
