Canazei Weekly Summer Market (Via Roma)
Every Wednesday morning from late June to early September, Via Roma — Canazei's main pedestrian street — transforms into a lively open-air market where valley farmers, artisan cheesemakers and Ladin craftspeople set up stalls beneath the church tower. It's the best single place in the valley to stock up on edible souvenirs and watch genuine local life unfold.
What to Buy
Look for malga cheeses aged in the high-altitude summer dairies — the slightly crumbly, golden-rinded Puzzone di Moena DOP is the valley's most famous product and tastes extraordinary with a drizzle of local wildflower honey.
Wooden kitchenware carved from Val di Fassa larch, hand-embroidered Ladin linen and small bottles of Genepy alpine liqueur make compact, lightweight gifts that actually mean something.
Food & Atmosphere
Several stalls sell warm speck sandwiches on rye bread and paper cups of vin brulé even in summer — grab one and watch the Dolomite peaks frame the street at either end.
The market draws both visitors and locals doing their weekly shop, which keeps prices honest and the atmosphere refreshingly unpolished compared to more tourist-heavy Alpine markets.
