Pllek

Built from 20 recycled shipping containers stacked along the IJ riverbank at NDSM, Pllek is simultaneously a restaurant, beach bar, cultural stage and the most relaxed place in Amsterdam Noord to spend an afternoon. The sandy terrace, strung with lights and facing the water, feels like a beach club that accidentally ended up inside a city.

The Food & Drink

The kitchen leans into seasonal, plant-forward Dutch comfort food — think roasted celeriac with hazelnut butter, smoked mackerel on rye, and a rotating weekend brunch that sells out by noon. The burger is reliably excellent and the fries are cooked in beef tallow the old-fashioned way.

The bar pours a well-curated selection of Dutch craft beers from Brouwerij 't IJ and Oedipus Brewing, plus natural wines and a short cocktail list. The house negroni is a worthy order.

Atmosphere & Events

On warm evenings the sandy terrace fills with a mixed crowd of Noord locals, designers from the nearby Kunststad studios and curious tourists who stumbled off the ferry. There is no dress code, no attitude and usually a DJ playing low-key house music by 20:00.

Pllek also hosts film screenings, yoga mornings, live concerts and debate nights in its indoor hall — check the agenda on their website before you visit to catch something special.
