IJ-Hallen Flea Market

Held inside and around the monumental NDSM shed, IJ-Hallen is the largest flea market on the continent — 750 stalls spread across 35,000 square metres of raw industrial space, overflowing with vintage Levi's, Dutch Delftware, mid-century furniture, vinyl records and genuinely bizarre bric-à-brac. Arriving at opening time on a crisp Saturday morning, coffee in hand, feels like the best kind of trea

What to Hunt For

The market skews heavily vintage rather than junk: expect racks of 1970s and 80s denim, leather jackets, military surplus, Dutch-design ceramics and a serious selection of second-hand books in multiple languages.

Dedicated antique dealers occupy the indoor hall's eastern section, selling clocks, silverware, oil paintings and Art Deco glassware at prices that still undercut most antique shops in the Jordaan by a wide margin.

Food, Atmosphere & Timing

A row of food trucks lines the waterfront edge of the market, serving stroopwafels, Vietnamese bánh mì, Surinamese roti and freshly pressed juices. Grab a spot on the NDSM pier to eat with an IJ river view.

Go early — gates open at 09:00 and the best clothing and vinyl stalls are picked over by 11:00. Sunday afternoon is the time to negotiate hard as sellers prefer not to pack things back up.
