Spiaggia di Maiori (Main Beach)
At nearly a kilometre long and forty metres wide, Maiori's main beach is the broadest stretch of sand on the Amalfi Coast — a fact that changes how the whole day feels. There's room to spread out, to walk, to watch the Norman watchtower at the western end catch the late light without craning past someone's umbrella.
Unlike many Amalfi beaches that fall into shadow by early afternoon, the orientation here keeps sun on the sand almost until sunset. The small port sits at one end; the lungomare runs the full length behind you; and the Fiume Reginna Maior empties quietly into the sea nearby.

People who come back tend to arrive early, walk the promenade before the beach clubs set up, then stop at Pasticceria Napoli for a sfogliatella or a delizia al limone. They also note that the free public section is worth seeking out, and that the ferry dock makes it easy to day-trip to Amalfi or Positano without touching a car.
The story behind Spiaggia di Maiori (Main Beach)
The beach as it exists today is, in a quiet way, a product of disaster. The catastrophic floods of 1954 swept away much of Maiori's historic centre, reshaping the coastline and leaving behind the wide, flat sandy shore you walk on now.
The town itself is far older. Maiori joined the Confederation of the Amalfi States in 842 and by 872 had established what some historians count as the earliest sea republic on record. Its name, according to a tradition traced back to the Latin writer Pliny, derives from Maia, the Roman goddess of fertility and growth. The Norman watchtower looming over the western end of the beach was built in 1563 to watch for pirate raids — a reminder that this open shoreline was once a vulnerability, not an amenity.
Good to know
The SITA bus connects Amalfi and Salerno with a stop here — about 75 minutes end to end. Ferries and hydrofoils also run to Minori, Positano, Cetara and Vietri sul Mare from the small western port. A large car park sits at the end of the seafront road. Lifeguards are on duty through the summer season.
The swimming season runs from June through November, with sea temperatures peaking around 26°C in August. July brings the longest days — over ten hours of sunshine — and the least rain. If you prefer the beach without the August crowds, early June or September offer warm water and noticeably more space.

Was absolutely our favorite beach to hang out at. Price was decent. We paid about 40 euros for an umbrella and 3 chairs. Good options for food and drink at the cafeteria. Definitely recommend. Bus goes all the way to the bottom which was super convenient when the parking was busy
One of the better beaches on the Amalfi coast. More sand and less busy than most of the others - and Maori is a great little town. Far less busy than Positano or the main Amalfi terminal.
Long beach stretching across Maiori. Usual sun beds and umbrellas for hire. A bit of public beach. Bit stony so wear swim shoes. Sea varies . Good for padding and swimming if confident. No shade and gets very hot. Statues along promenade. Water fountains and children's play area.
Water was refreshing and easy to access. Not quite the same as Australian beaches that I’m used to as it was mainly rock and gravel rather than sand. Plenty of fish around as well. Not very busy when we visited in late September
One of the best beaches in the area, and all the amalfi coast, the is a lot of private beach clubs, we taked two beds and one umbrella, 30 euros, you have wc and change room, in the village you have several restaurants and parking spaces, racommanded for families, couples, wish you have all the fun
