Museo Civico di Belluno
The building stops you before you even buy a ticket. Palazzo Fulcis, where the Museo Civico has lived since 2017, wears its 1776 renovation in rococo stucco and terrazzo floors — the kind of interior that was redesigned for a wedding and somehow never lost that particular energy. Five floors and around 3,000 square metres hold roughly 600 works spanning the 14th to 19th centuries, alongside bronzes, coins, medals, manuscripts, and a ground floor that walks you from the Middle Paleolithic to the medieval period without ever feeling like a textbook.
This is a collection with a donor's logic rather than a curator's, which makes it stranger and more interesting. Paintings from the Veneto school sit near ex-voto offerings, Belluno jewelry, porcelain, and the carved wooden work of Andrea Brustolon.

People who come back tend to linger on the ground floor longer than they planned — the archaeological section covering the Valbelluna catches you off guard. Also worth noting: a single ticket covers both Palazzo Fulcis and the Palazzo dei Giuristi archaeological collection next door, valid through the following day, so there's no pressure to do everything at once.
The story behind Museo Civico di Belluno
The museum began with a gift. In 1872, Belluno physician Antonio Giampiccoli donated his painting collection to the city, and Count Florio Miari followed shortly after with bronzes, medals, coins, seals, manuscripts, and books. The original home was Palazzo del Collegio dei Giuristi, built in 1664 — a building whose current archaeological collections remain closed to the public. Osvaldo Monti, provincial inspector of monuments and excavations, arranged the public opening in 1876.
A 1936 fire and a 1937 earthquake both damaged the collections. The longer rehabilitation came later: from 2012, Palazzo Fulcis underwent a restoration funded by Fondazione Cariverona at a cost of over seven million euros, and in 2017 the museum moved into its current 24-room home, with the 18th-century stuccos and frescoes carefully recovered.
Good to know
Tuesday through Friday, doors open at 9:30; weekends run 10:00–18:30; the museum is closed Mondays. The ticket office closes 45 minutes before closing time. Full entry is €8, with a €5 rate for Belluno residents. Belluno is reachable by train from Venice via Treviso and Conegliano.

Awesome museo in Belluno city center. You can explore the 3 floors of the palazzo fulcis, understanding the basics of art and culture of Belluno. Palazzo fulcis is freshly renewed with elegant style, the price of the ticket is worth for the palace itself. The exhibitions are cute, and you can even play with some instagram filter on the sculpture (see the photos to understand more). I will def come back, maybe to dance in the hall, which I hope someone will rent for a party. If you in the area during hot summer visit this place by all means. Besides presious renesance and baroque paintings you will have quality time in fully air conditioned rooms. Clean restrooms and friendly and knowledgeable front desk is something to remember as well.
