Piazza Vittorio Veneto occupies the crown of Frosinone's old hill town, a position that has made it a natural gathering point for the city's civic life. Just below it sits Piazza della Libertà, where the Government Palace stands alongside the Monument to the Heroes of the Risorgimento — a physical record of Frosinone's role in Italian unification. Nearby, the Church of San Benedetto survived the Second World War bombardments that reshaped much of the city around it.
The hill's institutional character was reinforced in the late 1920s, when a school building begun in January 1925 was completed on 15 June 1929 — one of the few construction dates the square's built fabric makes legible.

A highly respectable viewpoint, certainly not for how it is enhanced or maintained, or more simply respected; but rather for what the eye can fill itself with.
A view of what? I still don't understand. There's nothing beautiful to see except the sheer ugliness of this very strange little village.
