Step inside the Palazzo della Provincia di Frosinone and the polychrome stained glass stops you mid-stride — a provincial lion rampant ringed by the coats of arms of twenty of the ninety-one municipalities that make up this corner of Lazio. It's a civic declaration in coloured light, flanked by two bronze sculptures by Umberto Mastroianni.
Upstairs, the Salone di Rappresentanza holds twelve canvases by Giovanni Colacicchi, each one a study of the Ciociaria landscape — its hills, its monuments, its particular quality of light. The building is still a working seat of provincial government, which gives the whole visit a grounded, unhurried character that a museum rarely manages.

The story behind Palazzo della Provincia di Frosinone
The Province of Frosinone was only formally created by Royal Decree on 2 January 1927, and its administration spent its first years moving between temporary quarters — first the Palazzo della Prefettura, then Palazzo Molella. The groundbreaking for a permanent seat came on 28 October 1930, designed by Giovanni Jacobucci of Supino.
Jacobiucci chose a neoclassical idiom at a moment when rationalism dominated Fascist-era public building — a deliberate distinction. Construction finished in 1933, staff relocated from Palazzo Molella in February of that year, and the building was formally inaugurated on 6 December 1934. It rose on the site of the former Frosinone–Fiuggi–Roma electric railway station, now Piazza Gramsci.

Open Monday to Friday, 9:00–13:00, with afternoon hours on Tuesday and Thursday (15:00–17:00). No admission fee has been confirmed, but the building is an active administration, so access to some rooms may depend on the day. About 850 metres from central Corso della Repubblica — a straightforward walk.

The Provincial Palace of Frosinone is a building located in Piazza Gramsci, in the historic center of the city. It is the seat of the Province of Frosinone, a territorial body that performs local government functions over an area of approximately 3,200 km² and a population of approximately 500,000. The building was constructed in the 1930s based on a design by architect Giovanni Jacobucci. It is a neoclassical-style structure, with a main façade featuring two Art Nouveau bas-reliefs depicting female figures holding Fascist coats of arms. The central section of the façade protrudes from the side sections, and the entrance portal is flanked by columns supporting the upper balcony. The building has an internal courtyard, located at a lower level than the main body of the building, enhanced by a portico with round arches. The building has undergone several renovations over the years. The most recent dates back to 2010, when a new glass and steel main entrance was built. The Provincial Palace of Frosinone is an important historical and architectural building in the city. It is a focal point for the administrative and political life of the area and represents a symbol of the province's identity.
