Three churches, one jaw-dropping ensemble
The Romanesque church of Sant Pere, the Gothic Sant Maria and the jewel-box Sant Miquel — each built in a different century — stand side by side in the old town, creating a timeline of sacred architecture you can walk through in an afternoon.
Sant Miquel's octagonal dome shelters one of the finest Romanesque mural cycles in Spain, its Byzantine-influenced figures still vivid after nine centuries. Stand in the centre of the nave and look straight up for the full effect.
Domènech i Montaner's Modernista masterpiece
The cloister connecting the complex was designed by the same architect who gave the world the Palau de la Música Catalana. Its slender columns, floral capitals and stained-glass skylights feel like a greenhouse dreamed by a medieval monk.
The on-site Museu de Terrassa fills the surrounding rooms with Roman mosaics, Visigothic baptismal fonts and medieval altarpieces — all found within a few blocks of where you're standing.
