Cap des Mossons & Punta Galera
Forget the crowded Café del Mar terrace — Punta Galera is a stack of flat, wave-sculpted limestone shelves jutting into the sea just north of Sant Antoni, beloved by locals who bring wine and watch the sun melt into the water. No ticket, no queue, just raw Ibizan geology and a horizon that turns molten gold every evening.
Finding the Spot
Drive or cycle north from Sant Antoni along the PM-811 toward Sant Agnès and turn off at the sign for Punta Galera — a short dirt track leads to a small parking area, and a two-minute walk brings you to the layered rock platforms.
The shelves drop almost directly into clear turquoise water, making this simultaneously one of the best sunset viewpoints and a favourite spot for wild swimming and cliff-jumping during the day.
Making the Most of It
Arrive at least 45 minutes before sunset to claim a flat ledge — locals arrive early with blankets, charcuterie and cold cava, and the atmosphere is convivial rather than competitive.
In the golden hour the limestone glows amber, the sea shifts from jade to violet, and on clear evenings you can see the silhouette of the island of Conejera on the horizon — bring a camera with a wide lens.
