Torre de l'Aigua del Vapor (Water Tower Viewpoint)
Sabadell's industrial heritage left the city with a collection of monumental brick chimneys and water towers, and the restored Torre de l'Aigua in the Can Puiggener district is the most photogenic of them all. Climb to the upper viewing platform and you get a sweeping 360-degree panorama over the terracotta rooftops, the Vallès plain and, on a clear winter morning, the serrated ridge of Montserrat
The View and the History
The tower was built in the late 19th century to supply water to the textile factories that made Sabadell the 'Catalan Manchester,' and its sturdy brick silhouette has become an unofficial symbol of the city's working-class pride.
From the top, you can trace the layout of the factory districts below — the long shed rooftops of the old wool mills, now converted into design studios and cultural spaces — and understand at a glance how the city was shaped by industry.
Getting There and When to Go
The tower is accessible on guided open-door days organised by the city council, typically on heritage weekends in spring and autumn — check the Ajuntament de Sabadell cultural calendar for exact dates.
Sunset is the magic hour: the low light turns the brick a deep amber and the Vallès plain glows gold, making it one of the most photogenic moments in the entire comarca.
