Parc Fluvial del Ripoll
The Riu Ripoll threads through Sabadell from north to south, and the linear Parc Fluvial that follows its banks is the city's great green escape — a corridor of poplars, willows and wildflower meadows that feels genuinely rural despite being minutes from the city centre. Cyclists, joggers and families with dogs share the well-maintained riverside path in happy coexistence.
The Route and What You'll See
The main accessible stretch runs from the Pont de la Borriana in the north to the Pont de Can Llong in the south — roughly 7 km of flat, paved and gravel path that passes under old stone bridges, alongside restored mill buildings and through patches of riparian woodland that attract kingfishers, herons and, in spring, clouds of dragonflies.
Look for the old water mills (molins) along the route: several have been partially restored and carry explanatory panels about the medieval milling industry that preceded Sabadell's textile boom.
Best Times and Practical Tips
Spring (March–May) is the most rewarding season: the poplars are electric green, wildflowers fill the verges and migrating birds stop along the river corridor. Autumn brings warm amber light and the smell of damp earth after the first rains.
The path is accessible by bike from the city centre via the dedicated cycle lane on Carrer de la Salut, and several sections are wide enough for pushchairs and wheelchairs.
