Spiaggia di Riccione & the Viale Ceccarini Promenade

Riccione's sandy Adriatic shore stretches for kilometres, backed by colour-coded beach clubs (stabilimenti balneari) that have been the heartbeat of Italian summer since the 1950s. Pair a morning on the sand with a stroll up Viale Ceccarini — the palm-lined boulevard locals call the 'Salotto della Riviera' — and you have the essential Riccione experience in a single day.

The Beach Clubs

Each stabilimento balneare is numbered and has its own personality: some are family-oriented with shallow paddling areas, others crank aperitivo DJ sets from late afternoon. Renting a sunbed and ombrellone (umbrella) for the day costs roughly €15–30 per person and gives you access to showers, changing rooms and a bar.

The water is shallow and warm well into September, making it ideal for families. Early morning, before 9 am, the beach is nearly empty and the light is extraordinary — golden, flat and perfect for photography.

Viale Ceccarini

This pedestrian-only boulevard is Riccione's open-air living room, lined with luxury boutiques, gelaterias and café terraces shaded by mature palms. It runs from the seafront inland for about 800 metres and is busiest between 6 pm and midnight in summer.

Look for the Art Nouveau–influenced villas set back from the road — many date from the early 20th century when Riccione was a fashionable resort for Milanese and Bolognese aristocracy. The tourist office at the seafront end can supply a free walking-map of the historic villas.
