Marché de Perros-Guirec
Every Wednesday and Saturday morning, the centre of Perros-Guirec transforms into a lively open-air market where local fishermen, farmers and artisan producers lay out the best of Côtes-d'Armor on trestle tables. It is the single best place to taste the region before you've even sat down to a restaurant meal.
What to Buy
The fish stalls are the main event: glistening langoustines, live crab, sea bass and mackerel landed that same morning at the port. Breton butter — salted, of course, and sometimes flavoured with seaweed — comes in golden slabs that you'll want to carry home in your luggage.
Look for kouign-amann (the caramelised butter cake that Brittany gave the world), buckwheat galette flour, jars of cider-based apple jelly and small-batch Breton cider from inland farms. The cheese stalls carry local tommes and the occasional aged camembert that has no business being this good.
The Atmosphere
The Wednesday market is smaller and more local in feel — a place where retired fishermen argue about the weather and grandmothers squeeze melons with forensic precision. The Saturday market draws more visitors but also more stalls, including clothing, ceramics and hand-carved wooden objects.
Arrive by 9 a.m. for the best selection and the pleasure of watching the town wake up. A coffee and a warm crêpe from one of the mobile stands is the ideal fuel before a morning on the pink granite coast.
