Punta Fiascherino Coastal Path
The footpath that threads south from Lerici along the rocky headlands to Fiascherino and Tellaro is one of the most rewarding short walks on the entire Ligurian Riviera. Expect turquoise water below, rosemary-scented scrub beside you, and almost no crowds.
The walk itself
Leave Lerici's seafront on the Via Fiascherino road and pick up the signed sentiero at Punta di Lerici. The trail undulates across limestone outcrops, passing hidden rock ledges where locals sunbathe, before dropping into the tiny pebble bay of Fiascherino — famously rented by D.H. Lawrence in 1913, who wrote some of his most lyrical letters from here.
From Fiascherino a further 20-minute walk along the same path delivers you to Tellaro, a near-perfect medieval fishing hamlet of pastel houses stacked above the sea. The round trip from Lerici is around 7 km and takes 2.5–3 hours at a relaxed pace.
What to look for along the way
The viewpoint just past the Fiascherino junction — locals call it the Belvedere di Punta Fiascherino — gives you a sweeping panorama of the gulf with the Apuan Alps snow-capped in the background from October through April. It is one of the least-photographed great views in Liguria.
Keep your eyes on the water: the gulf is a protected marine area and it is genuinely common to spot octopus in the shallows, peregrine falcons overhead, and, in spring, migrating dolphins working the deeper channel.
