Restaurante Casa Palacín
Family-run for decades and firmly rooted in the cooking traditions of the Bajo Cinca, Casa Palacín is the kind of restaurant that regulars guard jealously. The menú del día at lunch is extraordinary value and changes daily according to what the market and the season dictate.
What to Order
Start with the ensalada de pimientos asados — slow-roasted Fraga peppers dressed with olive oil and salt, a dish so simple it should not work as well as it does. Follow with the ternasco de Aragón, the region's Protected Designation of Origin lamb, roasted until the skin crackles and the meat collapses.
In summer, do not leave without trying the fresh peach dessert, often a simple slice of melocotón de Fraga served at room temperature with a drizzle of local honey — proof that the best ingredients need the least intervention.
The Atmosphere
The dining room is cheerfully utilitarian — tiled walls, paper tablecloths, a television in the corner tuned to the news — and fills quickly after 14:00 with local workers, farmers and the occasional passing cyclist from the Cinca greenway route.
Service is brisk and warm in equal measure. The house wine, a young Somontano red, is poured generously and costs almost nothing. Book ahead for weekend lunches, when extended family gatherings take over half the tables.
