Marché de Fécamp (Place Bellet)
Every Saturday morning, Place Bellet and the surrounding streets fill with one of the most authentic and well-stocked markets in Upper Normandy. Locals arrive early with canvas bags; savvy visitors follow their lead and leave with armfuls of cheese, cider and fresh seafood.
What to Buy and Eat
Look for whole Neufchâtel hearts, thick wedges of Livarot and young Camembert direct from farm producers who drive in from the Pays de Caux hinterland every week.
The fish stalls are exceptional — Fécamp still has a working fishing fleet, so the sole, turbot and scallops on display were often landed the previous evening. A fishmonger will happily vacuum-pack your haul for the drive home.
Beyond the Food
A row of flower sellers lines the church wall, and a bric-a-brac section at the far end of the square turns up old Bénédictine advertising posters, Norman ceramics and vintage fishing tackle.
Grab a crêpe or a pain au chocolat from one of the bakery stalls and eat it on the square's stone benches while watching the town's social life unfold around you.
