Falaise de la Vierge (Cap Fagnet)
Drive or hike up to Cap Fagnet, the 110-metre chalk headland north of Fécamp, and you'll be rewarded with one of the most dramatic panoramas on the entire Alabaster Coast. The white cliffs plunge sheer into a steel-blue sea while the town spreads out beneath you like a scale model.
The Climb and the View
A well-marked footpath leaves from the northern end of Fécamp's beach and zigzags up the cliff face in about 25 minutes, passing wild sea lavender and kestrels riding the updrafts.
At the summit, the orientation table points out the Étretat cliffs to the south on clear days, and on exceptional days you can spot the English coast as a faint smudge on the horizon.
The Chapelle Notre-Dame du Salut
Perched right at the clifftop, this small whitewashed sailors' chapel has guided fishermen home since the 17th century. Votive ship models hang from the ceiling inside — a touching reminder of Fécamp's deep-sea fishing past.
The grassy plateau around the chapel is perfect for a wind-blown picnic; bring a blanket and a bottle of local cider and stay for sunset when the chalk cliffs turn gold.
