Troubadour Restaurant
Tucked into a vaulted medieval dining room inside the village walls, Le Troubadour is the kind of place that earns its reputation quietly and keeps it for decades. The cooking is rooted in Provençal and Niçoise tradition — think daube de boeuf, fresh fish from the day's market, and desserts that make you order a second coffee just to linger longer.
What to Order
The socca (chickpea flour pancake, a Nice staple) served as a starter is a benchmark version — crisp-edged, smoky, and properly seasoned. Follow it with the loup de mer (sea bass) roasted with fennel and olive oil, and you have a meal that distills the Riviera onto a single table.
The fixed-price lunch menu (around €28–€35 for two courses) is exceptional value given the setting and quality. Dinner is more elaborate and worth the splurge if you're celebrating.
The Setting
The interior is intimate — exposed stone walls, low arched ceilings, candlelight — and the small terrace outside looks directly onto the village's main lane, making it one of the best people-watching perches in Èze. Book ahead; the dining room holds fewer than 30 covers.
Service is warm and unhurried in the best French tradition. The wine list leans heavily on Provence rosés and Bellet whites from the hills above Nice, both ideal pairings for the Mediterranean-inflected menu.
