Fragonard Perfume Factory, Èze

Just below the village walls, the Fragonard perfume house operates a working factory and free museum that pulls back the curtain on how the Côte d'Azur's most storied industry actually functions — copper stills, raw ingredients and the science of 'the nose' explained without the boutique-shop gloss.

The Free Factory Tour

Unlike Grasse's more commercial perfume experiences, the Fragonard Èze factory tour is genuinely free, runs throughout the day without booking and takes about 20 minutes. Guides walk you past the actual copper distillation equipment, explain cold enfleurage and steam distillation, and let you smell raw jasmine absolute, rose centifolia and vetiver at each stage.

The factory produces real perfume here — not just a display — so on production days you can watch technicians blending at long wooden tables, which adds an authenticity that the polished Grasse showrooms often lack.

Shopping Without the Hard Sell

The adjoining boutique sells Fragonard's full range at the same prices as their Nice and Paris stores, but the Èze location stocks a few exclusive small-batch scents only available here, including a jasmine-neroli blend created specifically for the Riviera line. Staff are knowledgeable rather than pushy.

Even if you don't buy, the olfactory education alone is worth the stop. It's a natural pairing with the Exotic Garden above: visit the factory first, then climb to the garden to smell the living plants that feed the industry.
