Bar Txoko Berri

Tucked into the old town, Bar Txoko Berri is the kind of neighbourhood bar that Navarrese people are quietly proud of — a long counter loaded with creative pintxos, a short menu of seasonal raciones and a wine list that leans hard into local Navarra DO reds. It's unpretentious, loud at lunch and absolutely delicious.

What to Order

The house pintxo of foie with caramelised onion on toasted brioche has become something of a local legend, and the anchovy-and-piquillo combination on crusty bread is a perfect two-bite expression of Navarrese flavour. Prices hover around €1.80–€2.50 per pintxo, making a generous tasting lunch very affordable.

For a sit-down meal, the menú del día (available weekday lunchtimes) typically runs to three courses with wine for around €13 — a proper Navarrese meal of vegetable soup, roast lamb or bacalao, and a dessert of cuajada with honey.

The Atmosphere

The bar fills fast from 13:30 on weekdays and the noise level rises pleasantly as the locals arrive from work. Staff are efficient and friendly even when slammed — ordering in basic Spanish is appreciated but not required.

Txoko Berri sits a short walk from the Iglesia de San Miguel, so it's easy to combine a morning of sightseeing with a long, relaxed lunch here before the afternoon heat sets in.
