Parc Naturel de Jablines-Annet Lakeside Viewpoint
Fifteen kilometres north-east of Marne-la-Vallée, the gravel-pit lakes of Jablines-Annet have been transformed into a 600-hectare regional nature base where the wide, still water reflects the sky in a way that feels more Scandinavia than Île-de-France. The western bank at golden hour is the finest natural viewpoint within easy striking distance of the resort.
The View Itself
Stand on the grassy western bank of the Grand Lac de Jablines around 30 minutes before sunset and you get an unobstructed west-facing panorama across flat water, with reed beds in the foreground and a wide Seine-et-Marne sky above. On clear evenings the water turns orange and pink in a way that photographs absurdly well.
In summer, windsurfers and kayakers animate the middle distance, and the sound is just wind and water — a genuine tonic after a day of park audio. Bring a picnic blanket; there are no facilities at this specific bank.
What Else Is Here
The Base de Loisirs de Jablines-Annet is a full outdoor recreation centre with a supervised swimming beach (open June–August, free entry), a campsite, bike hire and a ropes course. Families staying near Disney for several days often dedicate one afternoon here as a complete change of pace.
Birdwatchers will find great crested grebes, cormorants and — in winter migration — occasional ospreys on the lake. The reed margins are an ZNIEFF-classified natural zone, meaning the ecology is formally protected and the habitat is genuinely rich.
Getting There & Timing
The base is best reached by car (15 minutes from Marne-la-Vallée via the D934); there is free parking at the main entrance. No direct public transport runs here, but a taxi from the Disney hotels costs around €20 each way and is worth it for a sunset visit.
The best light is in the hour before sunset facing west across the Grand Lac. In summer that means arriving around 20:00; in spring and autumn, 18:00–19:00. The base closes its gates at 21:00 in summer and 19:00 in the off-season.
