A Walk Through Film History
Every cabin along Les Planches bears the name of a star who attended the Deauville American Film Festival, from Clint Eastwood to Meryl Streep. Strolling the full length feels less like a beach walk and more like reading a golden-age Hollywood roll call.
The boardwalk was constructed in teak and stretches parallel to a wide, immaculate beach of pale sand. At either end you get long, unobstructed views of the Normandy coastline that remind you this glamorous resort sits firmly on the English Channel.
Best Times to Visit
Early morning in summer the light is soft and golden, the promenade almost empty, and the sea mist still clings to the water — perfect for photographs. By mid-morning the parasols are up and the atmosphere shifts into full Côte Fleurie holiday mode.
September is particularly special: the American Film Festival brings actual celebrities back to the cabins that bear their names, and the town buzzes with screenings, red carpets and impromptu sightings at the casino end of the boardwalk.
