Mercato di Piazza Cima

Every Friday morning Piazza Cima and the surrounding streets fill with the stalls of Conegliano's weekly outdoor market — a genuine working market where farmers from the surrounding Prosecco Hills bring seasonal vegetables, aged cheeses, cured meats and wild mushrooms straight from the hillside woods.

What to Buy and Taste

Autumn is the undisputed peak season: stalls overflow with porcini mushrooms foraged from the forests above Vittorio Veneto, chestnuts from the Cansiglio plateau and the last of the season's white peaches from the plain below.

Look for local Montasio and Piave cheese wedges, hand-rolled pasta and jars of radicchio di Treviso in olive oil — all produced within a short drive of the city.

The Market Atmosphere

The market is unapologetically local — vendors greet regulars by name, prices are written in marker on cardboard, and the background soundtrack is a mix of Venetian dialect and the clatter of folding tables.

Arrive before 09:00 for the best selection and to watch the city's nonnas do their weekly shop with the kind of focused intensity that only Italian grandmothers bring to produce selection.
