Castello di Conegliano
Perched on a cypress-lined hill above the city, Conegliano's 10th-century castle is the defining silhouette of the Prosecco Hills. The restored keep houses the Museo Civico and rewards every visitor with a panorama that stretches from the Dolomites to the Venetian plain.
Climbing to the Castle
A steep but short walk up Via Castelvecchio winds through terraced gardens and old stone walls before depositing you at the castle gate. The path is shaded by cypress and olive trees, making the ascent feel like a scene from a Renaissance painting.
Inside the Museo Civico you'll find local archaeological finds, medieval armour and a prized altarpiece attributed to the school of Giambattista Cima da Conegliano — the city's most famous Renaissance son.
The View from the Battlements
Step onto the castle's open battlements and the entire Prosecco DOCG landscape unfolds before you — row upon row of UNESCO-listed vineyards stitched across rounded green hills.
On a clear morning the pre-Alpine peaks of the Dolomites hover on the northern horizon, while the spires of Conegliano's old town cluster directly below. Sunset here turns the hillside vineyards a deep amber gold.
