Oranjezicht City Farm Market (OZCF)

Every Saturday and Sunday morning, Cape Town's most beloved farmers' market sets up at Granger Bay on the V&A Waterfront — a short drive from Camps Bay — and the city descends on it with dogs, reusable bags, and serious coffee in hand. With over 40 local farmers and 80 artisanal food traders, the OZCF Market is the single best window into how Cape Town actually eats and lives.

What's There

The market is housed under a large all-weather marquee that opens directly onto Table Bay, giving every table a sea view. Stalls run the full spectrum of Cape Town's food culture: heritage grain sourdough, organic dairy, free-range eggs, local honey, seasonal vegetables, fresh flowers, kombucha, natural wines, and an extraordinary variety of ready-to-eat food from vendors representing cuisines from across Africa, Asia, and the Mediterranean.

The communal seating outside is where the real action is — plates piled with food from four different stalls, kids running between tables, dogs under chairs, and the mountain visible across the bay. It is genuinely one of the most pleasurable ways to spend a Cape Town morning.

The Night Market

From August through May, Wednesday evenings bring the OZCF Night Market — a different, more atmospheric version of the weekend event, running from 4 pm to 9:30 pm. Five bars serve craft beers, natural wines, spirits, and mocktails, and the vibe shifts from Saturday-morning family bustle to post-work drinks with a food-market soul.

The night market is a local favourite precisely because it is less tourist-heavy than the weekend version. If your trip includes a Wednesday, this is the version to catch — the bay at dusk with a glass of Cape natural wine in hand is hard to beat.

Practical Details

The market is card-only — no cash accepted. Parking is available in the adjacent Granger Bay parking structure at around R10 per hour, or you can walk from the V&A Waterfront in under 10 minutes. MyCiTi buses also serve the area. Arrive early on Saturdays (before 9 am) to beat the queues at the most popular food stalls and to snag an outdoor table with the best views.

The market is genuinely dog-friendly and relaxed in atmosphere — there is no pressure to buy, no entrance fee, and no dress code. It is the kind of place you plan to spend 45 minutes in and leave two hours later, very full and very happy.
