Revello Focacceria & Pasticceria

Since 1964 the Revello family has been baking what locals quietly insist is the best focacceria on the entire Ligurian Riviera. The shop on Via Garibaldi fills with the warm, olive-oily perfume of freshly baked focacceria genovese every morning, drawing a queue of regulars clutching small change and paper bags.

What to order

The classic focaccia al olio is non-negotiable — a thick, dimpled slab glistening with Ligurian extra-virgin olive oil and flaked sea salt, best eaten warm straight from the tray. Arrive before 09:00 for the first batch.

Don't overlook the focaccia col formaggio, a thinner, crispier style stuffed with crescenza cheese that is a speciality of nearby Recco — Revello does a superb version. The torte salate (savoury vegetable tarts) with chard, artichoke or onion are equally worth the detour.

Pastries and sweet treats

The pasticceria side of the counter is equally serious: pandolce genovese, amaretti and the house canestrelli shortbread biscuits make excellent edible souvenirs wrapped in their distinctive packaging.

A coffee at the small bar paired with a warm cornetto or a slice of torta di riso (rice cake) turns a quick snack stop into one of the most satisfying breakfasts on the Italian Riviera.
