Parc Natural de la Serra de Tramuntana (Calvià Foothills)
Where the UNESCO-listed Tramuntana range tumbles toward the southwest coast, the Calvià municipality offers some of the range's most accessible yet crowd-free hiking trails, with pine-scented air and vertiginous sea views as your reward.
Trails Worth Lacing Up For
The circular trail from Es Capdellà village through the Galatzó massif is a local favourite — a steady climb through holm-oak woodland that opens onto panoramas stretching to Ibiza on clear days.
The summit of Puig de Galatzó (1,026 m) is the crown jewel: a technically moderate scramble that rewards with 360-degree views over the Bay of Palma and the wild western coastline below.
When and How to Go
Spring (April–May) is peak season for wildflowers and mild temperatures; the trails are carpeted in cistus, rosemary and asphodel. Autumn is equally rewarding and far quieter than the beach-holiday crowds suggest.
Park at the small lay-by on the Ma-1015 road near Es Capdellà and carry at least two litres of water — shade is sparse above the treeline and mountain rescue call-outs spike in summer.
