Rua das Pedras
Búzios' famous stone-paved pedestrian street is the beating heart of the town — a 600-metre stretch where boutiques, art galleries, and restaurants spill onto the street from midday until the early hours of the morning.
Day: Shop, Sip, Explore
By day, Rua das Pedras is a relaxed parade of independent boutiques selling resort wear and handmade jewellery, art galleries showcasing local painters, and pretty cafés with outdoor tables perfect for people-watching over a cold coconut water.
The street is entirely closed to cars, so you can wander freely between a Brazilian fashion label, a surf shop, and a gallery selling Búzios-inspired paintings without ever stepping off the pavement.
Night: When the Street Really Comes Alive
After sunset, Rua das Pedras transforms. Bars fill up, live music spills out of open doorways — samba, MPB, rock, and electronic sets all within the same block — and the whole street hums with an energy that keeps going until 5am on weekends.
For a classic night out, start with cocktails at the waterfront Anexo Bar and Lounge, catch live jazz and blues at Patio Havana, and finish with a late-night crepe at Chez Michou, a Belgian-owned institution on the street since 1983 that stays open until 6am in high season.
Chez Michou: The Essential Stop
Chez Michou at Rua das Pedras 90 is non-negotiable. The menu runs to over 50 sweet and savoury fillings — think chicken with catupiry cheese, or a strawberry-chocolate-ice cream combination that locals describe with barely contained emotion.
By day it is a family-friendly creperie; by night it doubles as a lively bar with DJ sets and big screens. The English menu and multilingual staff make it easy for first-timers to navigate.
