Mirante de João Fernandes
Perched on one of the highest points of the João Fernandes neighbourhood, this panoramic viewpoint reveals the full, jaw-dropping geometry of Búzios — a mosaic of turquoise coves, anchored sailboats, and native green hills stretching out to the open Atlantic.
The View That Defines Búzios
From the mirante's deck, you can take in Praia de João Fernandes and the smaller Praia de João Fernandinho simultaneously, their crystal-clear waters and anchored schooners laid out like a postcard below. On a clear day the view extends further along the peninsula's north coast, revealing the full curve of the headland.
This is the spot that appears on every travel story from Búzios — the single image that makes the geography of the peninsula immediately legible. Locals say it is the most photographed viewpoint in the city, and one look explains why.
Getting There & Making the Most of It
The mirante is reachable on foot from central Búzios in around an hour's round trip, by buggy — the classic Búzios way to tour the peninsula — or by car on an unpaved but safe road. Buggies can be rented across town and are the most fun way to link several viewpoints in a single afternoon.
Go in the morning for the best light: the low sun picks out the intense blues of the water and the green of the coastal vegetation in colours that look almost too saturated to be real. Sunset is equally spectacular and more romantic, but expect company.
