Praia da Azeda & Azedinha

Two tiny, back-to-back coves tucked behind Praia dos Ossos, Azeda and Azedinha feel like a secret that Búzios has been hiding in plain sight — calm, crystal-clear water, a narrow strip of sand framed by green hills, and a fraction of the crowds of the main beaches.

The Walk Is Part of the Magic

Access is on foot only — or by water taxi — which is precisely what keeps these beaches so unspoiled. From Praia dos Ossos, a 15-minute walk with some gentle ups and downs through Atlantic vegetation brings you to Azeda first, then the even smaller Azedinha just beyond it.

The path itself is charming: a small wooden trail leads through coastal scrub before the twin coves open up below you in shades of green and turquoise that look more Caribbean than Brazilian. The effort is minimal; the reward is enormous.

What to Expect on the Sand

Azeda has a narrow strip of sand framed by green hills and an old colonial-style house that lends the scene an almost cinematic quality. The water is so calm and clear that you can snorkel without any equipment beyond a mask, watching small reef fish dart between the rocks.

Azedinha, the smaller of the two, feels even more untouched. Wooden boat-style beach bars serve cold drinks and simple snacks directly on the sand — the kind of place where you order a caipirinha, find a spot under a natural shade tree, and completely lose track of time.

Insider Timing

These beaches fill up fast on weekends and during the January–February high season. Arrive before 10am on a weekday for a near-private experience. Water taxis from Praia dos Ossos offer a fun alternative return journey if your legs are tired.

The calm water makes Azeda and Azedinha ideal for families with young children, for snorkellers, and for anyone who finds the surf and crowds of Geribá a little overwhelming.
