Skyline Drive-In Theatre

When the sun goes down over Cricketers Arms Road, Prospect, something magical happens: Sydney's only remaining drive-in theatre flickers to life. Tune your car radio to the broadcast frequency, recline your seat and watch a blockbuster under an open sky — a retro ritual that no streaming service can replicate.

A Living Piece of Cinema History

Drive-in theatres have vanished from almost every corner of Australia, but Blacktown's Skyline has survived and been fully refurbished. Pulling up in your car as dusk settles over Western Sydney, with the giant screen glowing ahead and the smell of popcorn drifting through the window, is an experience that feels both nostalgic and completely alive.

The Skyline screens current-release films across multiple sessions on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, meaning you can catch the latest Hollywood blockbuster in genuinely unique surroundings.

Tips for the Perfect Drive-In Night

Arrive at least 30 minutes before the session to secure a good spot — central positions with a slight upward slope give the clearest screen view. Bring blankets and pillows if you want to watch from the car roof or truck bed for an even more atmospheric experience.

Food and snacks are available on site, but many regulars pack their own cooler with drinks and homemade snacks. The Skyline also shares its site with the Sunday Blacktown Markets, so a market morning followed by a drive-in evening makes for one of the best full-day itineraries in Western Sydney.
